So, it's easy to see why my curiosity was piqued when looking at this product. As it was, I was in the midst of a rash battle of near-epic proportions. Twiddlebug had just started solids and so she was experiencing diaper rash due to the change in her diet. The problem was that any ointment or rash cream that I purchased wasn't safe for cloth diapers. They required the use of a liner in the diaper, but the liners I had would just hold wetness next to her skin... Kind of defeats the purpose when the cream transfers to the liner and leaves her skin exposed to the wetness.
So I was at a loss. $5 here. $7 there. Don't get me wrong, these creams started to work, but eventually began to fail. It would fade to a medium pink and start looking like it was healing over, and then the next morning it would be raw and red again. I was going crazy, and she was just unhappy with every diaper change. I tried another cream that was cloth diaper safe. However, as any mom knows, once a rash gets to a certain point, ointments and creams will not stick to it. They just kind of slide off. So the rest of the butt is protected, but the rash is exposed. *SIGH* Straight coconut oil was also a no-go. I even went back to disposable diapers in an effort to knock it out for good and that didn't work, either.
A few weeks ago, I took part in a Facebook party and won a $25 gift certificate to Kissed By The Moon*, a natural parenting boutique that sells cloth diapers as well as a myriad of other items. I was like a kid in a candy shop! So many cool products, so many cute diapers, and I had $25 to spend. What to buy?
My first stop was the diaper creams. There HAD to be something for Twiddlebug's hiney! I started reading the reviews on CJ's BUTTer and was pretty surprised to see that it received 5 stars in every review that I read. So I figured I had nothing to lose. I wasn't paying anything out of my own pocket. So I ordered the small stick in "My Pixie Pie" scent (a blend of cherry, toasted almond, vanilla, and coconut. Very girly, very sweet).
CJ's BUTTer comes in a small and a large stick, 8 oz pot, 12 oz tub, and tube. It comes in many delicious all-natural scents, as well as some synthetic (but phthalate-free) scents. And for those not sure if they want to purchase a full-size container, there are small sample pots for $1.50.

I put it on Twiddlebug that first night. Mind you, I was skeptical. Her rash was red, raw, and she was squirming and crying with every change. No matter how quickly I changed her, how often I changed her, it was just staying the same or improving and then going backward. So, I applied the stick before bedtime. The first thing I noticed was how YUMMY it smelled! I couldn't stop sniffing it (okay, yes...I know it was rubbed on my baby's butt, but it didn't SMELL like butt, so I didn't really think about that...). It went on smoothly and stayed on the spots that other diaper creams wouldn't stick to. That impressed me!
The next morning: The real test. During Twiddlebug's diaper change, I noticed her rash was markedly better. Not just better, incredibly better! It went from red with a small raised bump, to pink with a darker pink patch of skin. No more bump. Huh. Okay. Well, the real REAL test will be if it protects against poop!

I guess she decided to test it to its full potential that day because she pooped more than usual. And every time, it was easier to wipe off and the rash looked better than the change before. In two days of using CJ's BUTTer stick, her rash was gone. Not only that, but it didn't come back. Not even a hint of it. It's been gone for two weeks now and Twiddlebug's bummy is soft and rash-free. Not only that, but I've experienced absolutely no repelling or other issues with my cloth diapers. I also use a tiny bit after her bath as a leave-in conditioner because she has very fuzzy "electric sockety" hair. It leaves it soft, manageable, and less "Einstein-ish".
I love this product so much that I splurged and bought a Tub O' BUTTer so that I could have one at the changing station and carry the stick in the diaper bag. This stuff really is amazing! I'm looking forward to trying and reviewing CJ's other products.
Want to know what else I ordered with my $25 gift certificate? Keep watching for my next review!
*I'd like to take a minute just to say how much I enjoyed doing business with Kissed By The Moon. I made my order on a Sunday night. Approximately an hour later, I had a tracking number. My order was mailed on Monday and was in my hands on Wednesday. My second order was made on a Monday and was in my hands on the following Thursday. Fast service as well as excellent customer service, plus a free sample of a product with every order. I've ordered twice and received a cloth wipe the first time, and a small sample pot of Delish Naturals Yum Bum Butter the second. Plus, a handwritten thank you from Tami. They've quickly become my favorite online retailer.
